VISUAL ART

I grew up in the little town of Scottville, Michigan (near the shores of Lake Michigan in Mason County). As a child I LOVED to draw and would spend my days drawing the images I would see on Disney posters, Lisa Frank folders, and wild-life magazines. In middle school, I remember creating elaborate sidewalk drawings that would take me an entire summer's day to complete. Some of my most cherished childhood memories stem from my art-making and it's for that reason that I continue to have a strong passion for sharing those experiences with others (especially my students).
I am a graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design where I dual majored in Visual Communications (Graphic Design) and Art Education, receiving my B.F.A. in both. Later, I decided to return to Kendall to receive my Masters in Art Education. I am proud to be a fourth-generation teacher and believe the profession to be one of the greatest ways to make an impact on the world in which we live!
I currently reside in Saugatuck with my husband and our two little boys and feel blessed to be surrounded by a community that cherishes the visual arts. I spend my free time creating my own works through photography (I love taking pictures of my little boys) and by taking on small graphic design projects whenever I can. I love all aspects of art and design and enjoy getting to share my talents with the students and staff at SHS.
